From the title, you would imagine this is about PhDs spending years and years of their lives being paid minimum wage hoping to jump onto the tenure-track bandwagon. But this is actually about the author's personal experience of a phishing event on Twitter and her opinions of the economist Larry Summers (whom she doesn't like).

- YeGoblynQueenne 9y agoFrom my perspective, PhDs spend years and years working on what inspires them and motivates them, which is normally something they can't do in the industry.
- njarboe 9y agoI would suggest, if you want to know Larry Summers "rare insight into women’s gender-borne intellectual shortcomings", to read the Harvard released transcript[1] of the speech in question first and then, if you want to read someone else's commentary on what he said, follow the link she provided. The link to the transcript from Inside Higher Ed article no longer works.
