Yep, this is a bummer because the topic of the book -- catalogging rent seeking behavior in detail -- should interest a lot of people! On a purely intellectual level, rent seeking is associated with markets where incumbents are non-competitive, where there may be opportunities for disruption. A better book review would have previewed some of these details. Beyond that, annoyance at entrenched, unworthy incumbents is something that people from many political backgrounds could agree on. I expect many left and right leaning folks could find common ground in wanting solutions to the nasty economic traps that made middle America so discontent in 2016.
