~sigh~
"Boz" is the only person I regret introducing to programming. (I convinced him to attend the 4-H project where I taught BASIC)
- dpflan 9y agoDo you still teach? I ask because when I obtained my C.S. degree, the curriculum required that students take a course that focused on ethics, entitled: Computing, Society, & Professionalism [1.]. I think this would be hard to squeeze into a BASIC course, but discussing the implications of use/abuse of technology is valuable. - bordercases 9y agoNot many students see their ethics course as anything more than a writing credit, with some resentment.
- dpflan 9y agoI agree. It feels forced. But exposure is important.
- sifoo 9y agoDon't bother; he's playing his part perfectly so far, which means that so did you. If we can keep this shit storm going for a month or so, Zuckerbot Inc. is going down; and I have a feeling your student will do his best to help with that.
- sah2ed 9y agoWould love to hear why you have such regrets?
- yid 9y agoThere may be a clue in the story we’re commenting on.
