I have no problem doing casual programming tasks while drunk. Also, I can code as hell all night long drinking whiskey+coke, while with beer my motivation vaporizes the moment I open the can. About student life vs real life, now you're simply tired of working so you're less motivated to do code when you drink at home to relax. That's just it, I have the same experience.
