We don't know how or if this dash cam video played into the control systems of the car. The accident is tragic and of course should be looked into. The NTSB is investigating[0] and I assume will have access to a lot better information than we have at this point, including all of that you're interested in. Lots of arm-chair quarterbacking at this point, given the paucity of information available right now. As for "I honestly don't know why this view seems to be so unpopular here", there are opinions all over the map, including those very similar to yours.
