Ask HN: Where are the good places to work?
The sentiment I've seen from HN over the last few months, and really culminating with the Facebook scandal, is that there are truly few good places to work; and what I mean by that is if you work at a startup, you're likely underpaid and offered useless equity to make someone else rich. But on the other hand, if you work for the FAANG[1], you're compromising your morals to make a ton of money while helping shady monopolies grow stronger.
So if we're dissatisfied with both ends of the spectrum, where do you want to work? What do you believe constitutes a great employer?
[1] In case anyone doesn't know this, FAANG stands for "Facebook Apple Amazon Netflix Google" - there are a bunch of other acronyms out there that essentially refer to the largest (by market cap) technology companies.
