DNC decides to get in front of it by playing the whole thing as a Russian op, especially potent as Trump is campaigning on softening stance with Russia. Notice that the first thing G2.0 leaked from the DNC was oppo on Trump. By the time Wikileaks publishes (without all these Russian fingerprints), "Guccifer" has already carried out the misdirection. Whole op could be a gambit by the DNC to set the discourse before the content of the emails gets picked up.
