- mkirklions 9y agoI have a new goal- Get so big I can give the middle finger to Apple. Although I've gotten less bitter since I found React-Native.
- cvaidya1986 9y agoOr simply create your own contribution to the world without anchoring relative to any other entity.
- smt88 9y agoHow was it drama-free? There was a #DeleteDropbox campaign after they hired Condoleezza Rice, widely considered to be a war criminal (especially outside US conservative circles) and definitely a proponent of domestic spying programs.
- totalZero 9y ago> widely I'm not sure you'll find much well-reasoned support for this notion outside of California and college campuses.
- alecb 9y agoSpearheaded a war that resulted in the deaths of 1+ million Iraqis that was started unilaterally on the pretext of fabricated evidence.
- dragonwriter 9y agoCondoleeza Rice did not spearhead the Iraq War by any reasonable standard. (If you can fairly credit anyone other than President Bush with that, its Vice President Cheney, who was actively pushing for aggressive war with Iraq and arranging for it both before 9/11 in the administration, and even advocating it publicly for many years before joining the administration.) I'm not saying that there might not be some basis for finding her culpable for some acts of the Administration that amount to war crimes, crimes against peace (launching a war of aggression is that, not a war crime), or crimes against humanity, but spearheading the Iraq War clearly isn't on the list, either from advocacy or authority standpoint. Knowingly helping to provide the false pretext for it might be, however.

- sanbor 9y agoI'm not familiar enough with the details to deny that she didn't "spearhead" the Iraq War. However I'd like that a person that was involved in the wrong side of decision making for torturing people[1] and defending massive surveillance [2][3] to be as far as posible of a backup company. I suggest to visit http://www.drop-dropbox.com/ http://www.drop-dropbox.com/ and https://www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/~knuth/rice.html https://www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/~knuth/rice.html for more arguments against Rice. - ScottBurson 9y ago> If you can fairly credit anyone other than President Bush with that, its Vice President Cheney And — relevant to the present moment — John Bolton.
- sangnoir 9y ago> I'm not sure you'll find much well-reasoned support for this notion outside of California and college campuses. Contemporary events for another notion you wouldn't find "outside California and college campuses" succeed in toppling Brendan Eich at Mozilla. The only difference I could tell then was that the Dropbox board put its foot down in support of Ms Rice and Mozilla's board folded.
- nhurj 9y agoAs far as I know they both had support from their respective boards. But Rice was 'only' up for the position as board member. Eich was to be the highest public and private facing position of the company. The controversy surrounding him, unfairly or not, also affected people personally. Basically Rice only needed the trust of the rest of the board, while Eich would have had to fight to run or represent the company. Your own comment being an example of how the Internet doesn't easily forget things.
- jurt 9y agoThe protests against the Iraq war is considered the largest global protest in history. I would call that "widely".
- hjek 9y agohttp://www.drop-dropbox.com/ http://www.drop-dropbox.com/
- arenaninja 9y agoYeah that is the sole reason neither me and mine do not have a Dropbox account to this day, and why I would not consider applying there
- ryan-allen 9y agoWhen I read that Drew rejected Jobs' offer I couldn't believe it. Big props for backing yourself and growing it larger than the offer. If Jobs did succeed in acquiring Dropbox, it would have been shuttered and the tech would have been absorbed by the iCloud borg, depriving us from the Dropbox product. Thanks for that!
- vampatori 9y agoWell, not quite drama free.. their security failed resulting in 60+ million customer login details being let into the wild.
