- dilap 9y agoWell, the subs themselves contained lots of content that was wiped without warning, so in that sense it is like book burning. Anyway, hopefully this'll all help stimulate the creation of actually-censorship-resistant platforms.
- dingo_bat 9y agoOnly if that bookstore is the world's only reasonable choice to buy books.
- manfredo 9y agoMore like bookstores refusing to sell any books on chemistry, out of fear that they will be held liable if some person uses one to make a bomb. Plenty of the things forbidden by these policy guidelines are entirely legal. Manufacturing firearms, manufacturing ammunition, and manufacturing magazines is legal in most states.
- wu-ikkyu 9y agoReminds me of the RATM song, Bulls on Parade: "They don't gotta burn tha books, they just remove 'em While arms warehouses fill as quick as tha cells Rally round tha family, pocket full of shells"
- cup-of-tea 9y agoI think a more apt analogy is a centralised printing press refusing to print books they don't like. Maybe you could go to another country to read the book there, but that's not possible for most people.
- dublinclontarf 9y agoAnd what remains is an empty store. Fantastic.
