What's are some examples of cruel and unusual punishment in the American justice system?

  As a strong libertarian, I have some pretty… unconventional ideas in that regard. Suffice it to say that I think any imprisonment of non-violent or non-property-crime offenders is abhorrent. But I understand this viewpoint is nutso in the eyes of many. Still, I think most can agree, especially the wealthy Silicon Valley liberal types the tech industry is rife with, that things are out of control with the current state of the "justice" system.
