Government Spending and Radical Transparency
After reading through Joël Valenzuela's post called What Many “Privacy Coins” Fundamentally Misunderstand About Satoshi’s Vision on the Dash Force News website (https://www.dashforcenews.com/what-many-privacy-coins-fundamentally-misunderstand-about-satoshis-vision/), I began to think about what it would mean to the citizens of a nation if they had the ability to audit where the tax dollars for the nation are being spent. I understand the necessity for paying taxes, and I am very pleased when I see these tax dollars being used to maintain our roads, clean our parks, and build new schools for our children. I can clearly see where the tax dollars are being spent, but I have a very difficult time gathering how much was spent on each of these projects. Being able to audit my local government's spending in real-time would be a huge step-forward in transparency as I personally do not trust the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports the government officials are preparing. I welcome the day when our governments move toward an online radical transparency reporting model to assist in sharing these details with us. After all, they already expect it from us in one form or another. If we begin to be more radically transparent with each other as well as the government, would our governments follow our lead?
