Was just thinking this week that I'd really love to have a mentor. I've been teaching myself React and Node full-time in order to build my first project and frequently feel like an hour a week with a mentor would make a big difference.
Right now my mentors are on YouTube and it's a one-way conversation. It's slightly discouraging to waste a ton of time (sometimes days) figuring out relatively simple stuff and I imagine a mentor could help direct and/or course-correct these studies.
I've explored looking for a paid tutor in my city, but I've only found listings for help to "ace" some interview or get into a bootcamp or something equally unappealing. What would help me is talking once in a while with someone who knows the subject matter well. I could even see paying for it although tutors that I've seen advertise at at least 5x what I'd like to pay (~$250/hr).
