Very similar experience. I only ever end up in one when visiting relatives. I'd be surly if I worked there too, and totally understand it. Still makes for a miserable place to go. And on a purely visceral level, what gets me is that the stores all stink. Seriously don't understand it - I'm guessing it is some cleaning product - but jesus, they all smell terrible.
