Waymo's latest iteration can be remotely operated by a safety driver, instead of having one in the driver's seat. It feels more like a symbolic show of confidence in the existing technology rather than an actual technological leap forward.
- lallysingh 9y agoRemotely controlled isn't the right term. Remotely monitored. The software does the driving, the human steps in if anything goes wrong. From Waymo's prior reports, I don't think the human actually has to step in very often (a few times a year?).
