One thing I feel nearly certain is that had Steve Jobs been alive, Apple would have never under any circumstances released a flagship phone and a flagship laptop simultaneously that, out of the box, had no way of connecting to each other. I still can't believe that happened.
- glhaynes 9y agoI don't see why. The Power Mac G5 still came with ADC for a year after they switched all their displays to DVI. (And the ADC-DVI adapter was $149.) Admittedly they weren't released simultaneously.
- blkhp19 9y agoI disagree completely. By the time they shipped with incompatible cables / ports, wireless backup with iCloud, wireless sync with iTunes (who even "syncs" at all anymore...), and even wireless deployment and debugging had all been implemented. Steve wouldn't have wanted you to connect your phone to your computer in the first place. That's why iTunes got wireless sync back before everything was in the cloud. The only really remaining piece was developers needing to plug in for deployment and debugging, but who cares - they're developers, they'll manage. And now even that's solved!
- hellofunk 9y agoYet, so many people plug their phone into their computer for the simple reason of charging it. Now perhaps wireless charging is coming, but the Apple cable fiasco sure inconvenienced anyone with that habit.
- astrange 9y agoWhy do you want to connect your phone to your laptop?
- _Tev 9y agoTransfering files (mp3, photos, random stuff I am transfering between laptops, esp. when not connected to the internet) and charging.
