Only if you want to hang out with a group of people with no particular shared interests. It's easier if you take part in some hobby / special interest group. In my experience, a shared interest can really bring people together and lay the groundwork for great social interaction that does not need to be related to said interest. Do conversations under influence of alcohol really feel meaningful to you? (Honest question, not judging, if you like and it's safe why not.)
