- cheald 9y agoMashable A/B tests their headlines. The original headline is one of the candidates.
- wuliwong 9y agoOh interesting, I didn't know that. I guess I'll leave my comment for the next person that has the same inclination as myself.
- wuliwong 9y agoI opened up Firefox and loaded the link and I actually saw the other headline for an instant. Edit: Actually it happens on every refresh in Chrome as well.
- rhizome 9y agoGood A/B'ing sets a cookie in your browser so that you don't screw up the numbers by reloading.
- leggomylibro 9y agoHuh, cool. I wonder if/when they'll start slipping in machine-generated headlines for a small % of the audience to train clickbait bots.

- saurik 9y agoTo say what cheald said in a more concrete way: "now we know why Siri was so dumb for so long" is definitely the title that I am currently seeing. The entire concept that there is a single title that somehow should match across sites is a weird concept made up by Hacker News that doesn't exist in the real world and probably causes more harm than it does good.
