Couldn't stand that. Boring as hell. Going for drinks is the easiest way to get people out for a fun night. Have fun having no social life and being bored out

  You can have a great social life that doesn't involve drinking.

    It's a whole lot harder though. Nothing brings people together more than 'fancy a pint?'. Otherwise you have to go out your way to organize activities that are interesting enough to actually make people want to come. And usually hard to schedule in as people are working during the day, eating in the evening and nights everywhere's shut other than bars/clubs.

      Only if you want to hang out with a group of people with no particular shared interests. It's easier if you take part in some hobby / special interest group. In my experience, a shared interest can really bring people together and lay the groundwork for great social interaction that does not need to be related to said interest. Do conversations under influence of alcohol really feel meaningful to you? (Honest question, not judging, if you like and it's safe why not.)
