I did some experiments with MiraCast (using MiracleCast) with the built in wireless on the RPi3. However I ran into several issues (connections not working sometimes; unreliable connections which would stop after a short time). Later I found a forum post which said that these issues could be related to the built-in wireless not correctly supporting WFD. Maybe the RPi3B+ fixes this issue but someone would have to try that.
