> You mention not having a technical co-founder as a big turn-off. But we all know that unless you’re doing a ‘hard tech’ startup, customer acquisition can often be harder than building a product. Is it not possible to succeed by hiring external tech talent? After all, Kevin Rose famously built Digg with $20/hour Rent-A-Coder talent.
How is Digg?
- mjlee 9y agoNot so hot, but I think most people would be pretty happy to be where Kevin Rose is, financially.

- jcadam 9y ago> Kevin Rose famously built Digg with $20/hour Rent-A-Coder talent. I'm so doing that next time (and on elance, et al., coding "talent" can be had for even less than $20/hr). I spent a year coding my current product (b2b) myself, and now I'm discovering user acquisition is the hardest thing in the universe.
- philipodonnell 9y agoI wish there was a Rent-A-Marketer site. Everyone in freelance marketing wants to be paid up front with no guarantees about anything.
