I highly recommend grabbing "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser. Beyond that, write as much as you can, and read your writing immediately or later. Is the point you're making as clear to the reader as it is to you? Are you using extra words that don't add to the content? I find myself even revising my long e-mails, with the final result being more succinct and easier to understand.
