I've been telling my wife that she would be a good coder for years. She finally agreed to let me show her some things the other day. I'm planning on going the JS route. She actually knows a tiny bit about HTML (BBCode from the MySpace days) so there will be something familiar to work with. Plus, it doesn't take much to get to the point where you're moving <div>s around, and I want her to actually see results so she stays interested.
