They don’t seem to be the brightest criminals:
Multiple undercover agents, posing as drug traffickers looking to expand their operations, also met Ramos in Las Vegas in February 2017, the complaint continues.
“We made it—we made it specifically for this [drug trafficking] too,” Ramos told undercover agents, according to a transcript included in the complaint.
- pessimizer 9y agoI don't think they actually said the part in the brackets. It's an editorial insertion, and probably from the person who wrote this article rather than from the transcript being quoted.
- natrik 9y ago“We made it—we made it specifically for this shit too,” probably said something like that
- pessimizer 9y ago"I'm doing this [murdering kittens], just to make a little extra cash until I graduate." They're just "adding context" aka begging the question; they're not censoring the word "shit."
- dmoy 9y agoThe square brackets are usually just used to give context from previous sentences / paragraphs that would not be obvious otherwise. So e.g. "He [James] paid him [John].". Where both names were in a previous paragraph. If we read the previous paragraph in the article that makes sense, because it was literally clarifying questions about the efficacy of using it for drug trafficking.
- dsfyu404ed 9y agoSo basically "our product is specifically designed for your application, please give us your money"? Yeah, because people never stretch the truth when trying to make a sale
- TeMPOraL 9y agoStretching the truth should have consequences too.
- rm999 9y agoIt's in the original complaint filed by federal prosecutors. See page 16: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4406486/Vincent-Ramos-Complaint.pdf https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4406486/Vincent-R...
