Better product, cheaper, with less people exploitation, is a win for everybody on Earth. Except the old cartel. (Which, btw, artificially limits supply of mined diamonds) There were attempts to do the same in the US fifteen years ago -- see for example "Apollo Diamonds." Maybe this time it'll stick?
