More than anything, i would say: read. Reading good stuff will subliminally creep into what you write (also known as the secret to originality is bad memory). There is simply no time available to read the books that are so good that you shouldn't consider yourself a complete human being before reading them, which basically means: Do not read anything that is not very good. Like stellar good. Also, sharpen your thoughts: Words can set you free if you know that it is not the words themselves, but how you use them.
But, really, blogging helped me a lot too ;-)
