Very odd...
- mc32 9y agoBecause in the US, at least, illegal forms of immigration can be a contentious issue where it's proven difficult for many to discuss the issue civilly and productively.
- meri_dian 9y agoThose who have trouble discussing the issue in a respectful manner appropriate to HN should be removed from the conversation, rather than the conversation itself being removed.
- dragonwriter 9y agoFrom the guidelines: “Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon.” This is a fairly mainstream politics story on an issue that is a focus of intense partisan controversy; it invites political flamewar but, history suggests, is unlikely to have much intellectually gratifying discussion here. It getting demoted for being hit by flags is unsurprising.
