You can, at the very least, make sure that your prepared for the random, lucky opportunities that come your way! Be in a position to seize the opportunity. I also don’t see why you couldn’t increase the number of opportunities that you do come across. For example comparing someone that explores their field talking to different people versus someone that does the bare minimum.
