The biggest rub is this - people say we don't put enough effort into initiating/maintaining friendships, I've tried that. Maybe 1 in 10 appreciate the effort, most people just don't care. I guess it is a numbers game. I don't see any short or long term solution for this. It is only going to get worse, with people spending more and more time to make less and less money and constantly under stress. We should stop worshipping work (especially in the U.S) as if that is the most important thing in life. Any time I see people boasting about the number of hours they put in, it annoys me to no end.
