We didn't so much 'choose to have children', we just chose not to abstain from having children. We did choose to have sex and from sex you can get children. There are all sorts of things you can do to try to keep them from being conceived but they are generally boring, unhealthy, tedious, unpleasant or a combination of those. As to why we did not choose to abstain from having children - which in my opinion would be the real choice to make given that having children is the normal result of two healthy people of fertile age and opposite sex having intercourse - I can but say that I wouldn't be here to argue this point if my parents had made the choice to abstain from having children. I quite like being here. This might sound trivial but it really isn't, just give it some thought.
