Show HN: GuiLite – UI framework for all platforms
- saagarjha 9y ago> GuiLite can work with other languages(e.g. Swift, Java, C#) This looks like it's 100% C++, so how are you planning to get it to work with Swift?
- untog 9y agoSwift can interop with Objective C code, no? It is a bit of a cheat since it's not Swift native, but should work in all environments Swift runs on.
- RyanZAG 9y agoWithout native bindings, you'd still need to write all the UI code in C, and then you could use Swift interop to call your C function that does the layout. That's not what most would think of as Swift support if you're writing C.
- saagarjha 9y agoYes, but not C++ code. Also, many environments, such as Linux, don't support the Objective-C runtime at all.
- idea4good 9y agoSwift call C++ code with Bridge Java call C++ code with JNI You can get more details here: https://github.com/idea4good/GuiLitesamples https://github.com/idea4good/GuiLitesamples
- idea4good 9y agoYes, it's 100% C++. Swift, Java can call C++ function with Bridge/JNI. You can get more details here: https://github.com/idea4good/GuiLitesamples https://github.com/idea4good/GuiLitesamples
- saagarjha 9y agoJava can, but Swift cannot, mostly due to issues of how to bridge C++ concepts such as templates, assignment semantics, etc. to the type system.
