I just want something between this and Slack's mac app, which sometimes doesn't want to load on even Starbucks wifi. Ideally a GUI app that can load messages on airplane wifi would be amazing. Every time I try to open slack on an airplane it just sits there loading and loading and loading.
Maybe one day!
- LocutusOfBorges 9y agoEul seems like it might fit that requirement: https://eul.im/ https://eul.im/

- doingmyting 9y agoTo be fair, they never said what year
- zimpenfish 9y agoI tried the latest Mac version. Crashed instantly I tried to log into Slack. Maybe in a few revisions it'll work but for now, it doesn't seem to.
- sincerely 9y agoYeah, I'm looking forward to checking in with eul in about six months, the idea seems promising but it's nowhere near usable (for my personal value of usable) yet
- 52-6F-62 9y agoSomebody could probably earn a lot of 'coffees' just building a C++ or Python Gtk UI that works with Slack's API, yeah? It couldn't be that rough, could it? I've done little interacting with the API's outside of simple bot integrations for a little fun.
- sethhochberg 9y agoOh man, that "you can't even see the messages that were in RAM when your computer went to sleep because we're doing... something... with your slow network" behavior is infuriating. I work a lot on airplanes and mobile hotspots, and it comes up depressingly often.
