      Graphite is the material from which pencil lead is made, a fitting name for a writing app. The expectation was never that Graphite (this one) was going to be the only company, app, or service with that name. Thanks for the links!

  I don't think it'll easily be confused. Honestly, whenever someone chooses a name, a comment like this comes up. It's inane. Every possible common english word is already used for some other software product in existence, even if it has a small user base. Holding up the ideal that no name clashes should ever occur in software is even far more restrictive than actual trademark law.
