We have a similar practice in Chinese culture, after a woman gives birth, they must take baths with ginger for a few weeks. My mother in-law actually spent hours cutting up enough ginger for my wife.
If you have parents that are willing to go above and beyond for their child, a healthy child is sure to follow.
