When Amazon launched their Cloudwatch reports, I saw a definite downward trend in S3stat signups, and even lost several customers since their thing duplicated most of my functionality at the time. It took a couple years to recover. Mostly through improving my product, but also from people realizing that Cloudwatch is kinda a pain to use and doesn't give the best reports. Better still, Amazon never iterates on things, so their product today is the same one they introduced half a dozen years ago. S3stat is doing better than ever today.
