I've been thinking about extending this data structure visualizer I've been working on to also deal with state machines. Part of my thinking is that it could be integrated (done through something like logging calls) into various popular state machine libs—then people using the libs could just set a flag once and see their state machines evolving in real-time (or transformed time) as their application executes.
