Because the US still has the vast majority of prestigious tech companies and still has the edge in innovation. That may be changing long term, but at least on the short term, this is the truth. The opportunities you get at Microsoft or Amazon are unmatched. People will gladly prioritize wealth and career at a Big 4 company vs a nice stable life at some not well know Canadian company.
