In a funny way, reminds me of football: they'll bring out the chains to precisely measure the yardage... to a spot that was arbitrarily chosen by the ref. The refs do the best they can, but there's often no way they've spotted the ball exactly where the play died. The whole ceremony with the chains is ridiculous.
