      Poor animals don't fare as well in nature either. Monkeys who have a fig tree will do better than the monkeys who are forced to scavenge. They will defend their tree, because they recognize the value of the resource. They will likely defend it successfully, because they are well fed. Wealth is a positive feedback loop. There's really no controversy in that either. "The rich get richer"
