It would be interesting to simulate a little world with species that evolve via genetic crossover. And let them have an aging gene that is just a number: The average lifespan.
Wonder what evolution in the simulation would come up with as the best lifespan.
Could be a fun weekend project.
- hans05 9y agoI think the main reason we haven't seen many life forms evolving long life spans is that the biological cause of aging may be closely tied to other important things. So it may be difficult to evolve long life without some other disadvantage like slower growth.
