Actually, I still like the idea of Wave, but to be honest, I didn't like the idea of using a google server and as far as I remember, the self hosted servers were available when Wave was abandoned by Google already and they were in a miserable condition (buggy GUI, limited features). So apart from these obvious problems I think their biggest mistake was the try to replace email instead of evolving email to wave.
