I find many of these points unconvincing. All of the pros listed at the beginning also apply to TeX, some arguably better than to Markdown. As far as I can tell, Markdown has several advantages over LaTeX, but these aren't highlighted in the article: * Markdown is easier to learn (at least the basics) * Markdown is more readable when in plain text format * Markdown doesn't require boilerplate/metacode such as package imports * Markdown more easily and naturally renders to HTML (biggest one in my opinion) (I don't particularly find any of these that convincing for my uses except maybe the last one.)
