Tarsnap should white label the service and keep the existing pricing. It will increase their volume drastically and the really low pricing will allow a lot of people to build a very profitable business on top of the service.
Someone then can charge 20$/month and a buck a gig for storage with some flashy mac/iphone/ipad app and kill it.
- cperciva 16y agoThere's nothing to stop you building services on top of Tarsnap. In fact, I've deliberately arranged things (e.g., the flexible and easily scripted tar interface, and CSV format downloads of usage data) to make it possible to do this. If you want to build a service on top of Tarsnap, please let me know and I'll do my best to provide you with whatever interfaces you need.
