This is only going to get worse. A company called Blue River Technologies, which hopes to automate weeding was acquired by John Deere(the company being discussed in the article). Their software is obviously more complex than simple firmware which can be 'hacked' by the average joe. If this weeding systems is profitable and becomes popular, these farmers are screwed.
