Not only that, it's purposefully written in a way that minimizes direct references to the original blog post, to make it seem as though Space.com actually took the time to do the interviews or any investigating for their research.
This quote from the article that quoted the astronomer makes it seem like they were the ones who took his statement personally, instead of ripping it off from his blog post.
"Andreo spent hours trying to figure out why he couldn't find it before giving up and heading home. 'By 5:15 a.m., I felt it was enough. Twilight was coming soon, plus I wanted to avoid the rush hour traffic back home, so I packed and left,' he wrote."
This is extremely slimy.
