The taxi industry was lazy and limiting the number of drivers because they wanted to do the least amount of work for the most money. Now we have an industry that is new and helping a lot more people. There are 10x the number of Lyft and Uber drivers than taxi cabs, and it's working great. People who would never take taxis are taking Ubers now.
