Ends justify the means. This resonates me with multiply teams I've left--irrational exuberance, about technologies like coffeescript / mongodb / etc. Anyone who has played with a functional language / "nosql" / etc on the weekend can experience this euphoria without the toxicity of churn to their company. It's patronizing to people who understand the importance of where things are headed. This is one of the signals that I look for.

After reading the article, parent's comment is spot on in multiple dimensions... this article is full of red flags to look for when joining a team. The depressing thing is if you're manager's manager doesn't care... and you're manager doesn't care... and you care, well.. then.. nobody cares.
