If you don't mind my asking, what X server for windows are you using? And, what is your display resolution? I've had good default font rendering with VcXsrv on a 1366x768 display, for example, but the same configuration is almost illegible on 1600x1200, presumably because of the higher dpi.
- marcoperaza 9y agoVcXsrv on a non-hidpi 1080p. I’m trying to remember exactly what I did, maybe this: 1) install the ubuntu-desktop package 2) run “ubuntu-settings-daemon &” 3) while #2 is running, start a GUI app. Good font smoothing now. 4) I think at this point I could close #2 and still get good font rendering. At least until the next restart, or perhaps as long as I didn’t close all Linux processes. I might also have added all of the fonts from Windows to the system-wide font folder on the Linux side.
