Where does k actually lie? Is it just some magic number the giy used?
- pintxo 9y agoIf I understood [1] correctly: "The formula is a general-purpose method of decoding a bitmap stored in the constant k, and it could actually be used to draw any other image." then k is not random, but a numeric representation of the resulting image. E.g. if you change k, you will get a different image. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupper%27s_self-referential_formula https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupper%27s_self-referential_fo...
- isoprophlex 9y agoIt's not really a magic number, it's an encoding of the graphic that represents the formula. This thing always irks me because 'the formula' is just the graphing part. Finding k for an arbitrary graphic (that can be displayed with the formula) always seemed more fun/interesting to me.
