Sucks for who ever invested in the medallions at the wrong time. Other than that I find it hard to feel sorry for the taxi industry. Cabs refusing to pick people up based on race, refusing to go to certain areas, flat out cheating people by manipulating routes, some times not showing up if called. I've seen it all. Uber seems to eliminate all of those issues as far as I can tell.
