Apart - Why they use the url with the "www8." name instead of "www."?
- jagger27 9y agowww8.hp.com has two A records that point to Akamai. My guess is that it's easier to mess with a subdomain for global CDN stuff than the top level.
- wishinghand 9y agoGibson Guitars used to do this too with www2, but it looks like they've cleaned up their act.
- slobotron 9y agoIIRC, different internal groups get control of different www{n} subdomains.
- discreditable 9y agoHP's website is legendarily disorganized and horrible.
- DonHopkins 9y agoBecause you have to wwwait for it.
